Dr. María de los Ángeles La Torre-Cuadros

Maria de los Angeles joined A Rocha Peru’s National Board of Directors as a founding member in 2004 and became the Director of Science and Conservation in October of 2018 and is now the president of the board of directors. She studied Biology at the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM) and has a MSc. in Forest Resource Conservation from the UNALM. She holds a PhD in Ecology and Sustainable Development from the Biodiversity Conservation Program at the Colegio de la Frontera Sur (ECOSUR) in Mexico. Her research focuses on understanding the natural and cultural processes which influence the conservation and management of tropical forests. Research themes include the analysis of diversity patterns in dry mountain ecosystems, quantitative ethnobotany, and the monitoring of biocultural conservation areas. For María de los Ángeles, A Rocha Perú represents the opportunity to share her personal and professional gifts in order to achieve environmental management which ensures human development as well as the protection of biological diversity at all levels. With this vision we can achieve a more equal world.
