Leena Hokkanen is Finnish by birth and trained in Commercial Sciences. Experienced in working in industry and commerce in Europe, Leena came to the Peru 40 years ago to support the Proyecto de Colonización de Huallaga (Huallaga Central Colonisation Project). After several years of university teaching in Lima, Leena returned to the challenges of development as Coordinator and Director of DIACONIA (Associated Programme of the Lutheran World Federation); posts she held for 23 years. Leena has a deep understanding of development problems, the fight against poverty and project implementation at a national and international level. She is a personal and professional coach and currently Senior Director of Strategic Development at Dtalento. Leena is an active member of the Lutheran Church. She has followed A Rocha’s work for many years and highly regards its Christian commitment. Leena joined A Rocha Peru’s Reference Committee in March 2013 and looks forward to being able to contribute her experience to its projects.
