Donald Smith Kennedy

Although originally from Scotland, Donald has lived in Peru for the past 30 years and joined A Rocha Peru’s Advisory Council in 2010. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from University of Edinburgh, a Dip. Theology from the Free Church of Scotland College in Edinburgh and a Ph.D. in Theological Education from the Seminario Teológico Centroamericano (SETECA) in Guatemala. He was ordained for missionary service in 1976 and served as the Principle Pastor of a Presbyterian church in Cajamarca, Peru, from 1978 to 1987, later moving to Lima in 1987 to serve as Professor and Academic Director of the Seminario Evangelico de Lima (SEL). Since 2003, he has served as the Seminary’s Rector. His principal work has been to develop the theological education component in SEL programmes and collaborate with various evangelical institutions. Over the past 35 years, Donald has also served as a pastor for congregations in Toronto, Canada; Coatbridge, Scotland; Cajamarca, Perú; and Las Flores, San Borja and El Agustino in Lima, Peru. Donald has signed an institutional agreement between A Rocha Peru and SEL in order to initiate profound and long-lasting changes in attitudes about the environment from a Christian perspective. One of the first fruits of this agreement has been a new professional curriculum in Environmental Sciences that will be offered at the as soon as registration is completed with the National Registrar of Grades and Degrees.
