Screen Shot 2014-12-25 at 22.04.07In December, news was received from A Rocha International of a generous, anonymous donation of US$10,000 for a new Youth Club pilot project in the shantytown district of La Esperanza in Trujillo, northern Peru. The one-year pilot starts this January and is located in one of the most populous and poorest parts of La Esperanza district, known as Nueva Jerusalén (New Jerusalem), where poverty, delinquency, domestic violence and child abuse are rife. The project will provide local young people (aged 8 to 22 years) with the opportunity and space to develop social and environmental values based on Christian principles, and allow collaborations to be developed with local stakeholders and partners, with whom we hope to develop a future Peace Youth Centre in two years.
